Jardin des Charmettes
Description
Jean-Jacques Rousseau said that he discovered botany and his love of nature at the Charmettes. The premises (the gardens adjacent to the museum, the orchard and the vineyards) have been redeveloped in the 18th-century style.
This French-style garden contains over 80 species of medicinal, culinary and garden plants, including famous and forgotten varieties. Ancient varieties of pear, apple and cherry trees have been reintroduced in the orchard below, and 100m² of ancient Savoyard vines have been planted on the hillside above the house.
