Savoy Museum - Temporary closure
Description
This museum is housed in a former 13th-century monastery adjoining the cathedral, and is one of the city’s oldest buildings. Since 1913, it has exhibited archaeological, ethnographic and historic collections from Savoy.
The Savoy Museum is closed until 2020 for renovation.
This renovation project integrates the conservation and management of collections, upgrading the building and redesigning the visit.
Housed in a former Franciscan convent of the thirteenth century, listed as a Historic Monument, it now retains collections of regional, historical, archaeological and ethnographic.
During the works, the life in the museum continues and its teams are fully mobilized on the continuation of the site of collections (computerization of nearly 100,000 objects), on the development of a Center for the conservation of the département collections, on the monitoring of work of the museum, on the writing of the future tour and the follow-up of the restoration of the works.
