Let's go for a hike in the mountain pastures ! What a fantastic feeling to roam this open pastoral valley, and reach Arclusaz pass, perched at the top of the cliff. It will make you feel like the kings of the world !
Departure : "Couvent de Bellevaux" car park. From Chambéry, reach Ecole village by the "col du Frêne" pass (D911 road). Turn right in the village, towards Jarsy, and then take the "vallon de Bellevaux" road when leaving the village. Park after 3km, at the "Couvent" car park. The trailhead is further up on the road. Highest point: 1770m.
1/ Follow the direction "Col de l'Arclusaz" (yellow and red GRP markings).
2/ At the "Le Couvent - 897m" crossing, turn right and walk 250m. Then at the "St Benoit - 908m" crossing, climb up into the forest on your left.
3/ Keep climbing through the forest on this trail until you reach the mountain pastures and the "Sortie du vieux chemin - 1 255m" crossing.
4/ Go up the pastoral track through the valley, by the Praz chalets.
5/ Access to the Arclusaz pass is a round trip and strats at the "Sous les Arbets - 1 440m" crossing. The climb should take around 1h20. On the way back, follow "Chalet Bottier" direction to make a loop.
6/ Pass in front of the Lauzarin chalet (1 431m). Once at Bottier chalet (1 435m), the track narrows into a trail and goes down towards the bottom of Lanche valley.
7/ Reach the track at the "Fond des Près - 1 110m" signpost. On your way back to the car park, you will pass the ruined village of La Chapelle as well as the Bellevaux chapel (940m).
