Argenterie des Bauges

Jean-Paul Pernet is the only craftsman in the Cœur des Bauges to make Bauges 'silverware', a type of traditional handicraft made from turned wood. The name 'silverware' was used to derisively describe dishes used by the poor but also came from the intense white colour of the items made from sycamore maple wood. Wood turning demonstrations available for groups (reservation required).
